📍 Sa Kaeo Province, Thailand
🚜💥 BOOM-FREE ZONE! First Army Blasts Through Mines & Builds Bunkers in Sa Kaeo
The First Army Area is on a mission — and this one’s got explosive results (in the best way). Over 11,000 square metres of land in Sa Kaeo just got cleared of landmines, turning danger zones into safe ground for locals along the Thai-Cambodian border.
Leading the charge, Lt Gen Worayot Leuangsuwan put his boots on the ground — or, well, sent Maj Gen Sitthiporn Chulapana — to make sure everything’s running like a well-oiled GCS-200 mine-clearing machine (literally, they brought two of those beasts).
💣 The Mission: Clear. Protect. Rebuild.
The operation took place in Ban Nong Chan village, where the Burapha Task Force teamed up with the Second Engineer Battalion and the Thailand Mine Action Centre (TMAC). Their goal: turn risky terrain into livable land again — one explosive at a time.
And it’s working. Day one: 11,000 sqm cleared. That’s roughly two football fields of ground once littered with danger — now safe for farmers, families, and anyone who’d rather not lose a foot on their way to work.
🧱 Building Bunkers & Confidence
While the demining squads made the earth safe, another team got to work on a project dubbed the “Hathaithip Fund.” Picture this: three civilian shelters and ten sturdy bunkers rising from the dust — already 32% complete and counting. Because nothing says “we’ve got your back” like a reinforced concrete wall between you and any trouble coming across the border.
🪖 Teamwork Makes the Border Work
Maj Gen Sitthiporn didn’t just watch the machines go vroom. He also checked in on emergency response drills, ensuring that troops are sharp, coordinated, and ready for whatever comes next. His message was clear: keep communication tight, law enforcement tighter, and the border stable.
🇹🇭 Mission: Safety — Status: Ongoing
The First Army Area Command wrapped up the day with a promise — Thailand’s borders will stay secure, and its people protected. And if the pace keeps up, Sa Kaeo might just swap landmines for rice fields — and bunkers for peace of mind.
